Student Engagement in IPE

Students are actively engaged in Interprofessional Education (IPE) encounters, activities, and organizations while attending UMMC. From our IPE Campus Welcome Celebration in the Fall through interprofessional simulations throughout the year, students are provided numerous opportunities to learn about, from, and with each other.

IPE Campus Welcome Celebration

Students kick off the Fall semester by attending a campus-wide welcome back to school event held in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union. The event’s theme pulls from the IPEC Competency Roles and Responsibilities. Each school demonstratesits discipline’s role and responsibility on a healthcare team through a student-designed, discipline-specific boothEach booth offers opportunities to learn more about that discipline with interactive activities, visual graphics and content, and student interactions. The Dean of each school also serves ice cream from the Ice Cream bar to all the students who attend. Other activitiesinclude food trucks, interactive simulations on a variety of topics, indoor/outdoor games and photo ops. [2016 IPEC Competency RR4]
